About Us

About the school

Kisowera Secondary School is a mixed O’ and A’ level Day and Boarding school. We are both a Government Aided and Church of Uganda founded School under Mukono Diocese. The school is located at Kisowera Village, Mpoma Parish in Nama Sub-county, Mukono District about 7kms from Mukono town on Kayunga road.

The school was started in 1989 as   an answer to the high learners’ school dropout rates (especially the girls) among the low income earners who could not take their children to the distant boarding schools and the long distance to the neighbouring secondary schools at that time. The government grant aided it in 2001 and in 2006 put it on the Universal Secondary Education Programme (USE) and Universal Post O’ Level Education and Training (UPOLET) programmes. This school has a unique history of serious parents and the community building all the structures except two classrooms and one pit-latrine being built under the world bank phase II by the government. We shall forever be grateful for their contributions.

A very favourable learning environment for learners.

We have deliberately established a highly favorable and supportive environment for our learners, one that promotes academic focus, personal growth, and overall wellbeing. Through well-maintained facilities, a culture of discipline and respect, and a strong support system from both teaching and non-teaching staff, students are able to learn, explore, and thrive with confidence. This conducive atmosphere not only enhances effective teaching and learning but also nurtures creativity, collaboration, and positive character development, ensuring that every learner is given the opportunity to realize their full potential.
